The Bra Sisters is a specialist bra-fitting and consultancy service, dedicated to supporting women on this important part of your breast cancer journey.
Our one-to-one consultations will help you find the perfect bra and swimwear after surgery. We research both mainstream and specialist lingerie to find the best products so that we can offer the widest range possible. We are not affiliated to any one brand.
We work with breast cancer clinics and charities to provide expertise and make sure that we can be there in the right place, at the right time, for women on their cancer journey.
OUR STORY
The Bra Sisters was created by Sarah Mountford and Kate Courtman, from north London, after our own experience of post-mastectomy bra fitting.
We were both in our 30s when we were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, within a month of each other. Despite the fact that we lived around the corner from each other and were both parents to two young boys, we’d never met before.
After our diagnosis, we were introduced through a mutual friend and hit it off straightaway. We started meeting up regularly, sharing our experiences and supporting each other through our treatment. Our journeys were different – Sarah had a single mastectomy without reconstruction surgery and Kate had a double mastectomy with reconstruction and later a hysterectomy, as she carries the BRCA gene.
But when it came to post-surgery bra fitting our experience was the same – terrible!
This became a common talking point as we met up during and after our treatment. We wondered why it was so hard to find a professional, knowledgeable and impartial bra fitting service after breast cancer surgery. Was wearing ugly, ill-fitting bras really the best it was going to get? When we spoke to other post-mastectomy women, we realised we weren’t alone.
Together we decided that we could do better...we must do better! so we both trained and became certified fitters in standard and post-mastectomy bra fitting and the Bra Sisters was born. We are passionate about providing a positive and personal bra fitting experience in a safe, comfortable environment with a fashion forward selection of lingerie. Whatever your age, style, taste and needs, we will help you find the bras that make you feel confident, beautiful and positive about your future.
